Stupid Sign. Picture this, a VFW hall, (the Veterns place) hosting Bingo, which is common and recurrent weekly. Inside is a bunch of odd people with bottles of ink and good luck charms everywhere on their being. Smoke fills the room til your eyes tear, and the caller of Bingo is at least 100 years old. One wall draped completely in black, with a sign "Commorating those that died to fight for your freedom" and pictures of soldiers in uniform handsomely displayed. Then a few feet away from this is a complete slap in their faces. I don't know why I am so stuck on this issue but it really bothers me. There is a sign.. no make that at least a dozen signs all over this place that reads "Absolutely No Profanity allowed on these premises!" Now yes I know the average clientel is about a million years old and would be profoundly offended at hearing others cuss. I have no problem with that at all. Here is my problem... The first Amendment guarantees me freedom of speech. It does not limit what type of speech nor does it give me a guideline as to what my right of speech is, it simply is my American right to say whatever the fuck I want. Now those people on that dead person wall, sacrificed their lives in honor of our freedoms and country. Hello? WTF is that about? Welcome to the VFW! Excuse me, I need to try to challenge your constitutional rights as you play Bingo. Sheesh. Yes I thought about that the entire time I lost. Yes, I lost every single game. Yes I had fun, if you must know! I had a wonderful time trying to find oxygen and breathe it through the steady haze of smoke, and I AM a smoker, I feel bad for the non smokers. Yep I can smoke in there, suject everyone to my filthy habit, make those with respritory problems unable to enter the building cus well I have the right to pollute the air and hey, why not, its not like anyone is allowed to curse me out for it! Ugh. Sometimes things make no FUCKING sense. Tonight is one of those times. |
